Inútiles

“INÚTILES” (por León & Cociña) es el muestrario de artefactos mágicos que fueron parte de una película-ritual llamada Los Hiperbóreos. La muestra incluye muñecos, telones pintados y objetos de utilería realizados por los artistas y sus colaboradores. Estos objetos fueron creados para un rodaje abierto al público entre noviembre de 2022 y enero de 2023 en el Centro Cultural Matucana 100. Son cosas que fueron creadas con un fin útil, el de ser parte del arte de una película. Una vez utilizados se han convertido en objetos inútiles mirando por la ventana. Es decir, ahora son arte.

Los objetos expuestos fueron creados para el largometraje Los Hiperbóreos por León & Cociña junto a muchos artistas colaboradores, entre quienes hay que destacar a Francisco Visceral, quien pintó todos los telones, a Natalia Geisse quien fue directora de arte de la película, a Javiera Sandoval, asistente de arte, y a Francisco Schulz, asistente de dirección.

Algunos de los objetos aquí expuestos fueron creados por los participantes del taller “Invocando a los Hiperbóreos” realizado en Matucana 100. Un porcentaje de las ventas de estos objetos será destinado para la recientemente creada Beca Piñufla de la Fundación León & Cociña, que becará a uno de los participantes del taller con un programa de tutorías y un estipendio.

“INÚTILES” (by León & Cociña) is a showcase of magical artifacts that were part of a ritual film called “The Hyperboreans”. The exhibition includes dolls, painted backdrops, and props created by the artists and their collaborators. These objects were created for a public film shoot held between November 2022 and January 2023 at the Matucana 100 Cultural Center. They were created with a useful purpose, to be part of the art of a film. Once they were used, they became useless objects looking out the window. That is to say, they are now art.

The objects on display were created for the feature film “The Hyperboreans” by León & Cociña, along with many collaborating artists, including Francisco Visceral, who painted all the backdrops, Natalia Geisse, who was the art director of the film, Javiera Sandoval, art assistant, and Francisco Schulz, assistant director.

Some of the objects on display were created by participants in the workshop “Invoking the Hyperboreans” held at Matucana 100. A percentage of the sales of these objects will be used to fund the recently created Piñufla Scholarship of the León & Cociña Foundation, which will award one of the workshop participants with a mentoring program and a stipend.
